UFC Fight Night 137 Bonus Awards

Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 137 event the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.

Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was the main event battle between Thiago Santos and Eryk Anders.

Both fighters were throwing venemous strikes during the bout, but it was Santos who clearly proved to be the more dangerous of the two and had Anders hurt on several occasions.

Credit to the late replacement though who showed a solid chin and kept coming forward looking for takedowns, but that only led him to more punishment as late in the third Santos started dropping down big elbows and punches to the head. As a result, Anders flopped to the canvas still rocked at the end of the round and then fell two more times attempting to get back to his stool before the fight was waved off.

Meanwhile, Charles Oliveira was involved in a competitive fight with Christos Giagos, but in the second round he started to take over with his striking and then ruled the roost when the action moved to the floor, taking his opponent’s back and sinking in a nasty rear-naked choke for the finish to also win a performance bonus.

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira proved he’s still dangerous and scooped up a ‘Performance Of The Night’ in the process by outgunning Sam Alvey on the feet, landing some big blows in the second round that had his opponent hitting reverse gear in survival mode, but the veteran didn’t let him off the hook and eventually dropped him and landed further ground and pound strikes to seal the KO victory.
