Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 166 event in North Carolina the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
On this occasion Brett Johns and Tony Gravely claimed the ‘Fight Of The night’ award, who engaged in what would prove to be a largely grappling based encounter that ebbed and flowed until the final round when Johns was able to land punches and then sink in a fight-ending rear-naked choke submission.
Meanwhile, Alex Perez earned a ‘Performance Of The Night’ award after he wasted no time in getting Jordan Espinosa to the mat in the opening round and then began working for an arm triangle choke, which he was able to find a finish without even having to move from half-guard to lock it up fully.
Earlier in the night’s first bout, Herbert Burns got the card off to an exciting start by landing a big knee against Nate Landwehr for a knockout finish after just 2.43mins.
