Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 188 event in Las Vegas the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors on this occasion was a heavyweight clash between Jared Vanderaa and Justin Tafa, which went the distance on the main card.
Vanderaa mixed up his strikes nicely during the fight, including repeatedly landing kicks to the legs and body along with his punches, and that enabled him to dictate the striking action and eventually secure a unanimous decision victory, but Tafa did his best to stay competitive and had his opponent bleeding profusely from a cut to his left temple in the latter half of the fight.
Co-main event winner Carla Esparza won one of two ‘Performance Of The Night’ awards after she completely shut down Xiaonan Yan with her wrestling and then made effective use of elbows from the crucifix position in the second round to bloody up her opponent and secure a TKO stoppage victory.
Also earning a performance bonus was Bruno Silva, who initially hurt Victor Rodriguez with a knee in the early stages of the round and then followed up with a straight right to win by KO just 60 seconds into the fight.
