Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 219 event in las Vegas the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
‘Fight Of The Night’ honors went to a preliminary card fight between Nazim Sadykhov and Evan Elder that saw both fighters giving their all in an action-packed, back-and-forth striking battle that came to an unfortunate end in the third round when a bad cut above Elder’s right eye forced a doctor’s stoppage.
Erin Blanchfield faced a daunting short-notice switch in opponent to former strawweight champion Jessica Andrade in the main event of the event, but the 23-year-old took it all in her stride and earned a performance bonus in the process.
Blanchfield showed a willingness to fight fire with fire in the early striking exchanges, and then took Andrade to the mat in the second round, where she was able to pounce on an opportunity to take the back and sink in a fight-ending rear-naked choke submission to extend her unbeaten run in the UFC to 5-0.
Also taking home a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus was Mayra Bueno Silva, who took Lina Lansberg down in the second round and eventually set up a kneebar submission to force a tapout for her third win in a row.
