UFC Fight Night 225 Bonus Awards

Following yesterday’s UFC Fight Night 225 event in Singapore the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.

Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was the main event featherweight war between Max Holloway and ‘The Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung.

This was a hard-hitting clash in which both fighters ate heavy leather repeatedly, with Holloway being the slicker of the two, but TKZ managing to find a home for his punches too. However, it was ‘Blessed’ who was having the bigger impact, and early in the 2nd round he put the Zombie down with a flurry of punches. Holloway thought the fight was over, but TKZ lived up to his nickname and kept fighting.

However, in the third round it seemed that TKZ had decided it was time to go for broke as he came out aggressively swinging for the fences and began motioning for Holloway to come at him. Holloway didn’t need to be asked twice and met him half-way, which resulted in a huge right hook from Holloway sending the Zombie crashing forward onto the mat for a highlight-reel KO finish.

One of two ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonuses was handed to Junior Tafa after he made short work of Parker Porter, repeatedly hurting his fellow heavyweight with powerful punches early in the opening round, leading to a knockout finish after just 84 seconds.

Also securing a performance bonus was Michal Oleksiejczuk, who survived a big head kick in the early stages of his fight with Chidi Njokuani, but then rallied to get his opponent to the mat and delivering ground-and-pound for a TKO finish before the end of the first round.
