Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 240 event in Las Vegas the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was an entertaining back-and-forth battle between Chepe Mariscal and Morgan Charriere that went the distance.
Throughout the fight Charriere showed the cleaner striking and was willing to mix in takedowns occasionally, while Mariscal employed his energetic brawling style and was also willing to mix things up on the mat and ended the final round with some ground-and-pound. There was a case to be made for Charriere to win, but ultimately Mariscal emerged victorious via split-decision (29-28 x2, 27-30).
One of two ‘Performance Of The Night’ awards went to Ignacio Bahamondes, whose striking looked slick against Christos Giagos and soon paid off for him when he landed a perfectly placed head kick that sat his opponent down at the 3.34min mark of the opening round to secure a TKO finish.
Also earning a performance bonus on the night was Cesar Almeida, who punished Dylan Budka for attempting to take him down by blasting him with elbows and punches while he was clutched to his leg until Budka crumpled onto the canvas and covered up, leading to a TKO finish.
