UFC Fight Night 241 Bonus Awards

Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 241 event in Las Vegas the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.

‘Fight Of The Night’ honors on this occasion went to main event stars Lerone Murphy and Edson Barboza who went the distance in a hard-hitting fight that saw both men bloodied up by the end.

The 32-year-old Murphy impressed with a composed display of striking that saw him utilize his boxing ability effectively, with his precision jab work in particular being a stinging weapon all fight long that disrupted Barboza’s own offensive efforts. Murphy also used the occasional takedown to unsettle the Brazilian veteran and in the end emerged with a convincing unanimous decision victory that extends his unbeaten record to 14-0-1.

The first ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus went to Khaos Williams, who early in the first round absorbed a clubbing punch to the back of the head from Carlston Harris, but then moments later fired back with a heavy right hand counter that sank his opponent to the canvas, with a follow-up punch on the mat sealing a big knockout victory just 90 seconds into the fight.

At 39-years-old Angela Hill looked better than ever during her victory over Luana Pinheiro on the main card.

Primarily known as a volume-striker, Hill showed off real improvements in other aspects of her game during this fight, including foiling numerous attempts from Pinheiro to bring her to the mat with judo throws. Then in the second round when Pinheiro ducked in for a takedown attempt Hill was able to seize on a guillotine choke and drop to the mat with it, before transitioning on top and forcing the tap-out to earn her first ever submission victory.
