UFC On ESPN 55 Bonus Awards

Following last night’s UFC On ESPN 55 event the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.

Rather than including a ‘Fight Of The Night’ award, UFC Officials went for four ‘Performance Of The Night’ awards instead and among them was main event winner Alex Perez, who broke free from a three-fight losing streak when he knocked out Matheus Nicolau with a right hook in the second round.

In the co-main event Bogdan Guskov lived up to his reputation as a heavy-handed striker when he rocked Ryan Spann with a well-placed uppercut in the second round before landing a dozen ground-and-pound blows to seal a TKO finish.

Jhonata Diniz secured a win and a performance bonus in his UFC debut after being dominated by Austen Lane on the mat in the opening round, but then turning the screw in the second round when his opponent couldn’t get the fight back down and started to tire, allowing the former kickboxer to daze him with big punches and then drop him with a left hook for the KO victory.

Uros Medic also earned a bonus award after he stopped Tim Means in less than half-a-round after landing an uppercut that sent him crashing straight down to the canvas, with a follow-up punch sealing the TKO finish.
