UFC ‘Sending Out Feelers’ For Potential McGregor vs. Chandler Replacement

There remains serious concerns today over the possibility that UFC 303’s blockbuster main event between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler on June 29th could be in jeopardy.

“The hope is still that the fight is on,” reporter Ariel Helwani stated last night on X. “There is positivity, I’d say.

“But they have sent out feelers to see who might be able to fill in, either as a replacement or an entirely new fight at the top of the bill. Still developing, and still some time.”

Concerns about the fight being scrapped first emerged in the early hours of Monday morning when a major press conference for the event in Dublin, Ireland later that day was suddenly postponed without reason.

Later that day Helwani had reported that the reason for the cancelation wasn’t due to any behind-the-scenes drama, leading to speculation that it could be an injury to McGregor that’s put the fight at risk.

Meanwhile, the latest posts from Chandler and McGregor have added further fuel to the fire that the long-awaited return of ‘The Notorious’ is not going to happen.

“If you’re looking for me I’ll be out in Tennessee,” Chandler wrote on Instagram.  “No way out of the life we chose.”

Chandler had reportedly been holding his training camp in Florida for a fight he has spent two years waiting for, so the fact he’s now returned to his home in Tennessee doesn’t appear to bode well for the fight.

Meanwhile, with speculation heading into overdrive, McGregor’s latest post was a photo with his family that simply reads, “Thank you God!”
