UFC Strawweight Champion Jessica Andrade Robbed At Gunpoint In Brazil

UFC strawweight champion Jessica Andrade and her wife Fernanda Gomez were robbed at gunpoint in Brazil yesterday.

Andrade and Gomez were reportedly stopped in their Honda HRV car, while driving in Niteroi, a town near Rio de Janeiro, by gun-weilding thugs who proceeded to rob them of their belongings, including their vehicle.

“Friends, our car was stolen, and they took our phones with it, we are out of reach for now, except for messenger,” Gomez wrote later on Facebook. “Anyone who can, please share this so we can find the car. We are safe at home.”

Andrade’s manager Tiago Okamura later gave another update.

“She’s okay,” Okamura said. “They took her documents (including her passport), they took the car, they took phones. So we just spent the day doing paperwork and canceling credit cards. She did a (police) report, and also people are looking for the car.

“But right now, we’re just glad that nothing bad happened. Nothing major that can’t be regained. Both her and her wife are safe, so that’s all that matters.”

Thankfully neither Andrade nor her wife were harmed during the incident, and their car is insured.

Reports suggest that the same gang used their vehicle to commit another robbery later that same day.
