Vitor Belfort Shuts Down Gegard Mousasi’s Plan To Fight Him Next

In a recent interview former Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi confirmed that he was moving down to middleweight and singled out Vitor Belfort as the man who wanted to fight first, but the Brazilian has indicated he’s got no interest in that fight.

In an interview on Sherdog.com, Belfort says that Mousasi’s past accomplishments don’t count and he’ll have to earn a chance to fight him by working his way up the middleweight ranks – suggesting opponents that he’s recently defeated like Luke Rockhold and Michael Bisping as being more suitable.

As for who he wants to fight next, Belfort only wants to fight against opponents who’ll move him closer to a title shot. It remains to be seen who the UFC have in store for him, but after his recent impressive performances it’s not completely out of the question that he could end up fighting the winner of this weekend’s Anderson Silva Vs Chris Weidman bout.
