Watch John Dodson KO Fellow UFC Veteran Ryan Benoit In BKFC Debut

Former UFC fighter John Dodson made short work of fellow Octagon veteran Ryan Benoit in his bareknuckle boxing debut at BKFC 28 last night.

The 37-year-old Dodson was as agile and energetic as ever from the opening bell as he took the fight to Benoit with his fast hands and proceeded to send him to the canvas on three occasions with flurries of punches to secure a KO victory just 40 seconds into the fight.

A former TUF season winner and two-time flyweight title contender, Dodson had been released by the UFC in 2020 after a slump in form saw him lose three of his last four fights in the promotion.

Following that Dodson moved on to the XMMA promotion and things didn’t go according to plan in his debut, suffering a unanimous decision loss to another ex-UFC fighter Cody Gibson, before beating yet another Octagon vet, Francisco Rivera in his next outing, before joining BKFC.

As for Benoit, he had come crashing out of the UFC last year after suffering three losses in a row and was then hit by a nine-month suspension from the sport due to a failed drug test.
