Rousimar Palhares has received a significant backlash since his fight-ending submission over Mike Pierce at UFC Fight Night 29 last night due to the fact that he held the ankle lock for some time after his opponent tapped and the referee had ended the contest.
The incident was later declared “unsportsmanlike” by the UFC who opted to deny him the $50,000 ‘Submission of The Night’ bonus and warned that further punishments were likely.
