Weili Zhang Hints That Joanna Jedrzejczyk Will Be Her Next Opponent

UFC strawweight champion Weili Zhang has dropped a big hint that Joanna Jedrzejczyk will be her next opponent.

In a post on Instagram Zhang stated that she was “still awaiting the battle contract,” alongside an emoji of the Polish flag, which suggests that it is the former champion who she will go up against next, despite another ex-titleholder Rose Namajunas indicating earlier this week that she’s also interested in fighting her.

So far Zhang has been unstoppable in her UFC career, racking up four wins in a row. Along the way she earned victories over Danielle Taylor, Jessica Aguilar and Tecia Torres, before seizing the title from Jessica Andrade courtesy of a TKO finish just 42 seconds into their fight back in August.

Zhang has only lost once in her entire career and that occurred in her professional debut back in 2013. Since then she’s won 20 fights in a row.

As for Jedrzejczyk, she has had to endure some tough times after losing her title to Namajunas two years ago and then also losing the immediate rematch.

However, though she did also go on to pick up a win over Tecia Torres and loss to Valentina Shevchenko (at flyweight), she has since returned to strawweight with a convincing decision victory against Michelle Waterson, which has helped move her back into the title picture.
