Yana Kunitskaya vs. Irene Aldana Set For UFC 264

Top 5 women’s bantamweight action is headed to UFC 264 with a fight between Yana Kunitskaya and Irene Aldana now having been booked for the show on July 10th.

Kunitskaya had a tough UFC debut a few years ago when she was instantly propelled into a featherweight title fight against Cris ‘Cyborg’, but after losing that fight by TKO she’s since settled in the bantamweight division, going 4-1 there so far.

Along the way she’s defeated the likes of Lina Lansberg, Marion Reneau, Julia Stoliarenko and most recently Ketlen Vieira, leaving her ranked No.5 in the division.

As for Aldana, she saw a two-fight winning streak against Venessa Melo and Ketlen Vieira ended last time out when Holly Holm beat her by unanimous decision.

Nevertheless, Aldana is actually still ranked one place above Kunitskaya at No.4 heading into this match-up, as the two prepare to battle it out for a potential spot in the top 3.

Kunitskaya vs. Aldana joins a UFC 264 fight card that’s set to be headlined by a lightweight trilogy fight between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor, while Gilbert Burns vs. Stephen Thompson and Sean O’Malley vs. Louis Smolka are among the other fights currently lined up for the the Las Vegas show.
