Following UFC Fight Night 213 last night the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
On this occasion four ‘Performance Of The Night’ awards were distributed and among them was Tresean Gore, who shook off two losses in a row to claim his first UFC victory with a submission finish of Josh Fremd.
The action was competitive in the opening five minutes, but early in the second round Fremd went for a takedown and found himself caught in a modified guillotine choke, which Gore used to wrench him to the mat in an aggressive manner, which soon after rendered his opponent unconscious.
Roman Dolidze also earned a bonus after he initially left Phil Hawes struggling to bear weight on one leg due to a leg lock attempt in the opening round. Hawes didn’t quit though despite his injured knee and paid the price soon after when Dolidze unleashed a flurry of strikes that KO’d him.
Meanwhile, in the prelims Steve Garcia took the fight to Chase Hooper early and that aggressive strategy quickly paid off as he dropped his opponent three times in 92 seconds on his way to a TKO victory.
Also earning a performance bonus was Christian Rodriguez, who got the evening off to a good start with a first round anaconda choke submission against Joshua Weens.
