It was already well known that the UFC were planning to bring a pay-per-view event to the UK next year and now it’s been officially confirmed, with UFC 286 set for the 02 Arena in London on March 18th.
The promotion have been buzzing about London since two major events there earlier this year made a big impact, both in terms of the passionate home support and in the quality of the action inside the Octagon from homegrown stars like Paddy Pimblett, Tom Aspinall, Arnold Allen and Molly McCain, who all shone on the big stage.
At this stage there’s no confirmation on who will headline the show, but it’s also no secret that Dana White intends to have the UK’s own Leon Edwards defend his welterweight title for the first time against the man he spectacularly dethroned via 5th round TKO last year, Kamara Usman, as the evening’s main event.
And of course it’s more than likely that the other aforementioned stars like Pimblett, McCann and Allen will all be in the UFC’s thoughts for the event, though heavyweight star Aspinall may not be an option as he’s still recovering from the unfortunate knee injury he suffered early in the main event of the most recent London event.
