March was an unusually quiet month on the mixed martial arts front, and to tell the truth April isn’t exactly stacked either, but there are some must-see shows along the way, and brace yourself as things are going to get a whole lot busier in May!

Saturday 14th April: UFC On Fuel TV 2: Gustaffson Vs Silva
The first of only two offerings from Zuffa in April comes in the middle of the month as the UFC heads to Sweden for the first time for ‘UFC On Fuel TV 2’.
Swedish light-heavyweight star Alexander Gustafsson fronts the show as he looks to improve his current four-fight winning streak against his toughest opponent to date, Thiago Silva who returns after a steroid suspension.
Despite ‘Fuel TV’ being the UFC’s smallest TV partner they are still bringing some other well known fighters along with them including the likes of Brian Stann, Brad Pickett, Paulo Thiago and Dennis Siver.

Friday 20th April: Bellator 66: Aoki Vs Alvarez
Bellator’s sixth season continues weekly on Friday night’s in April, but if you can only watch one then we highly recommend you make it the stacked ‘Bellator 66’ show on the 20th April.
Headlining the show is DREAM lightweight champion Shinya Aoki who will be looking to go 2-0 against former Bellator champ Eddie Alvarez in this eagerly awaited rematch.
With both the lightweight and middleweight semi-finals planned for this show this one is well worthy of your attention.

Saturday 21st April: UFC 145: Jones Vs Evans
April’s biggest event is unquestionably UFC 145 which features one of the biggest fights of 2012.
That is of course the light-heavyweight grudge match between current champion Jon Jones and former title holder Rashad Evan, and with the bad blood that stems between these two it should be a cracker.
It’s recently been announced that this PPV show will feature a six-fight main card, making room for a tasty looking bantamweight bout between Miguel Torres and Michael McDonald, while emerging welterweight star Rory MacDonald gets a chance to shine in the co-main event against the UK’s Che Mills.

Saturday 28th April: Invicta FC 1: Coenen Vs Ruysson
If you’re looking to try something a little outside of the norm in April then our recommendation would be Invicta FC 1 which takes place at the end of the month and unusually features an all-female line-up, and best of all will be streaming live on the internet for free.
Former Strikeforce 135lb champion Marloes Coenen features on the main event against Romy Ruysson, while a number of other notable fighters include Jessica Payne, Liz Carmouche, Kaitlin Young and Sarah D’Alelio.
