According to Fedor Emelianenko reports emerging from Russia that he was set to retire after his next fight have been lost in translation.
“Everyone talks about my retirement, and that I will train young fighters. I never said that,” Fedor clarified in a new interview on Russian TV.
“We’ll see. It’s not a fact that I will retire on June 21st. We’ll see after the fight.”
The fight in question is against Pedro Rizzo who’s best known for a long stint in the UFC, and will take place under the M-1 Global banner in St.Petersburg.
On paper that looks like a very winnable fight for the Russian, particularly as the 38 year-old Rizzo hasn’t fought since the summer of 2010, and given his latest comments perhaps defeating him may be enough to convince the legendary heavyweight to keep fighting on.
