Things are looking up for heavyweight fighter Travis Browne just 24 hours after he was shunted down to the preliminary card of ‘UFC on FOX 4’ next weekend after his original main card opponent Ben Rothwell pulled out injured.
Given that he’s currently unbeaten in his five UFC fights to date a hastily arranged replacement fight with Devin Cole seemed like a major step down, and it appears the UFC agree as they’ve now shifted him to the headline spot on October 5th’s ‘UFC On FX 5’ event.
Browne will lock horns with Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva at the event in Minneapolis in a fight that makes a lot more sense and could help push him closer to title contention if he emerges victorious.
That will be easier said than done though. While Silva is coming off back-to-back losses they came against top-flight competition in Strikeforce heavyweight tournament winner Daniel Cormier and former UFC champion Cain Velasquez.
Prior to that Silva had earned notable wins over veterans like Fedor Emelianenko and Andrei Arlovski, and he’ll provide a real test for Browne who’s biggest win to date was against Stefan Struve.
