UFC featherweight star Chad Mendes walked free from court yesterday after the Kings County district attorney dropped a charge of battery against him.
Mendes had been in the dock relating to an incident at the Lacey Inn Bar in his hometown of Hanford, California on July 29th in which he was alleged to have participated in a brawl, punching a man before fleeing the scene.
If convicted of battery Mendes could have faced up to six months in jail, but instead he only had to pay a fine after pleading no-contest to one count of public disturbance.
As such the former 145lb No.1 contender will now be able to refocus on his career once again, with his next fight already scheduled for UFC On FX 6 in December against Hacran Dias.
