UFC heavyweight fighter Lavar Johnson is facing a suspension after it emerged that he tested positive for elevated levels of testosterone following his loss to Brendan Schaub at UFC 157.
The California State Athletic Commission confirmed that, “the testosterone was consistent with the administration of a steroid.”
While no suspension has been handed out yet, it’s sure to follow with Johnson likely to be facing in the region of 6-12 months on the sidelines.
Johnson had stated following his loss to Schaub that he had been told he would still keep his place in the UFC despite having also lost to Stefan Struve recently, but it’s possible the promotion may now rethink that after this latest revelation.
In total the former Strikeforce fighter has gone 2-2 since joining the UFC in January of 2012, picking up two ‘Knockout Of The Night’ bonuses along the way.
