UFC 159 Prelims: TV Ratings

The UFC 159 prelims on FX last weekend were watched by an average of 1.38 million viewers.

That’s pretty good going given that the show was marred by freak incidents including Yancy Medeiros breaking his thumb half way through the first round of his fight and the referee making a poor decision to bring a premature end to Ovince St.Preux and Gian Villante’s fight after an eye poke.

While the show couldn’t match the near 1.6 million viewers pulled in for UFC 158, it was still comfortably above the current 1.2 million average for the UFC’s offerings on FX.

Meanwhile there was also good news over on Fuel TV with the post-fight show being the most watched to date following a PPV event with 159,000 viewers while the pre-fight weigh-ins attracted 109,000 viewers.

As yet we don’t have a figure for the pay-per-view buys resulting from the show, but Dana White did indicate post-fight that it was on course to do better than their initial projections.
