The medical suspension list for UFC 163 has been released and shows a number of fighters face a lengthy lay-off for broken bones sustained during their fights.
Amongst them is featherweight champion Jose Aldo who broke his right foot with his first kick in the main event, and he’ll now be required to take 90 days on the sidelines as a result.
His opponent Chan Sung Jung was handed a potential 180 day suspension after dislocating his shoulder in that fight, but the word since is that the injury was quickly adjusted back into place and he’ll hopefully not be required to sit out the full six months.
Co-main event winner Phil Davis also has a suspected broken right foot and it could force him out of action for half a year, while another winner on the night, Amanda Nunes will do likewise after breaking a rib.
Finally, Ian McCall broke his hand in the first round of his bout with Iliarde Santos, yet still managed to emerge victorious and scooped up the ‘Fight Of The Night’ bonus into the bargain.
