Sao Palelei To Fight Jared Rosholt At UFC Fight Night 43 In New Zealand

Fresh off a victory at UFC Fight Night 40 last weekend, heavyweight fighter Sao Palelei has now been signed up to take on Jared Rosholt at UFC Fight Night 43 in New Zealand on June 28th.

It’s a quick turnaround for the Aussie, but he took just 2.20mins to finish Ruan Potts by TKO on Saturday night and didn’t take any notable damage in the process, so he shouldn’t have any problem getting ready in time.

Palelei is now on a three-fight unbeaten run since joining the UFC with all of his victories so far coming by way of TKO or KO, which has helped him rise up to the No.15 spot in the divisional rankings.

In Rosholt, the younger brother of former UFC fighter Jake, Palelei faces a fighter who’s got off to a winning start in the UFC, notching up two victories to date, and just one loss in his eleven fight career overall.

UFC Fight Night 43 will mark the promotion’s first ever visit to New Zealand and is headlined by local hero James Te Huna going up against Nate Marquardt.

Australia has proven to be a strong market for the UFC since first bringing an event there in 2010 and they’ll no doubt be hoping that they can continue their success down under in New Zealand too, albeit with a much smaller sized event.

The event is expected to air via the UFC FIght Pass subscription service.

Over the years I've watched the UFC develop into the powerhouse it is today, organizations like PRIDE, Strikeforce and WEC rise and fall, and Bellator emerge as a new force on the MMA landscape. Throughout it all I've remained captivated by the sport and I'm excited to cover what comes next here on MMA Insight.
