Not that long ago the UFC released a UFC 189 promo featuring Conor McGregor called ‘Mystic Mac’ to hype up his fight with Jose Aldo, and the promotion are now looking to get their money’s worth from it by recycling the spot with the line, “tell Jose I’m coming,” being replaced with, “I’ll eliminate Chad ‘Mini’ Mendes.”
The UFC had spent more money promoting McGregor Vs Aldo than any other fight in the history of the sport, so you certainly can’t blame them for trying to salvage what they can at short notice.
Unfortunately the terrific promo with McGregor and Aldo squaring off on the Las Vegas Strip which had been at the center of the promotional push (and is believed to have cost in the region of $1.5 million to make) will have to be cast aside for now, but if McGregor does indeed ‘eliminate’ Mendes then no doubt they’ll dust it off and use it again when a fight between the Irishman and his Brazilian rival does finally take place.
