It’s been reported that one of the UFC’s brightest new up and coming talents, Sage Northcutt is heading to the famous Tri-Star gym in Montreal, Canada to train under the guidance of head coach Firas Zahabi.
Zahabi is of course no stranger to top-level talent having already overseen the careers of UFC stars like Georges St.Pierre and Rory Macdonald from the Tri-Star facility.
At just 19 years-old Northcutt is suddenly the talk of the sport after first appearing on the debut episode of Dana White’s new reality show ‘Looking For A Fight’. During the episode White ‘discovered’ Northcutt finding in a regional promotion and despite initially being skeptical about the young fighters extensive martial arts background and ‘pretty-boy’ looks, he quickly became a believer after watching him fight.
That led to Northcutt making his Octagon debut at UFC 192 recently where he lived up to the hype by taking just 57 seconds to TKO Francisco Trevino.
Up until this point Northcutt has been trained by his father from a young age, and while it’s clear he’s done a fine job there’s no doubt that now is the right time to step things up a notch and Tri-Star seems like a perfect match for him, particularly as he’s already gone on record as saying that GSP is his favorite fighter.
