Rizin Announce Absurd Freak Show Fight With Gabi Garcia

Japanese promotion Rizin FF have announced a truly absurd fight between Brazilian jiu-Jitsu star turned MMA fighter Gabi Garcia and former wrestler Shinobu Kandori for their end of year event.

If you’re wondering why this is going to be up their with the biggest freak show fights in recent memory then consider the fact that Garcia stands 6ft 1″ and weighs 210lbs, while Kandori is just 5ft 7″ and weighs less than 165lbs.

Although Kandori was a celebrated pro-wrestler in Japan, that was many years ago, and she’s now 52 years-old and works as a politician in the Japanese House Of Councilors.

A former BJJ world champion, Garcia has so far compiled a 3-0 record in MMA, though as was the case in her grappling career, she’s struggled to find opponents her own size to fight in the sport.

That lack of heavyweight female fighters appears to be the reason that Rizin have now scraped the bottom of the barrel and beyond in order to come up with Kondori, who, to be fair, does have a 4-1 “MMA” record.

Having said that, this will be her first fight in 16 years!
