The UFC and FOX have come up with a surprise Christmas bonus for fight fans with the news that four of the bouts from the instant classic UFC 206 event will air for free on the channel on Saturday, December 24th.
UFC 206 first aired on pay-per-view from Toronto, Canada less than a couple of weeks ago on December 10th, and despite an injury ravaged card the final line-up delivered what many critics believe to have been the best action of 2016.
The replay on ‘Big’ FOX will relive four of the best fights from the show in a two-hour long broadcast beginning at 8pm ET / 5pm PT on Christmas Eve.
First up will be a ‘Knockout Of The Year’ candidate as Canada’s own John Makdessi takes on Lando Vannata, a bout that initially served as the featured ‘Fight Pass’ prelim on the card.
Then it’s on to main card action with what many people believe to have been a ‘Fight Of The Year’ war starring Cub Swanson and Doo Ho Choi.
Following on from that comes another huge highlight reel knockout in the co-main event fight between UFC veterans Donald Cerrone and Matt Brown.
And finally, the compelling main event match-up for the interim featherweight title between Max Holloway and Anthony Pettis takes center stage to round out the show.
Given how entertaining a card UFC 206 proved to be, it was something of a tragedy that early reports suggested that it had likely posted the lowest buy rate of the year on PPV.
With that in mind, this second bite at the cherry, giving millions the chance to relive the best of the card on pay-per-view seems like a win-win situation for everyone, and no doubt will also be a great way to promote the upcoming UFC 207 PPV event featuring Ronda Rousey’s return on December 30th.
