While Ronda Rousey’s fighting future remains uncertain, it seems that she’s continuing to pursue an acting career as she’s just landed a guest starring role on the NBC show, ‘Blindspot.’
Airing on Wednesday nights, ‘Blindspot’ is a crime drama that’s currently in it’s second season and is based around a mysterious woman with amnesia who’s tattoos are believed to contain clues to crimes the FBI is trying to solve.
“Rousey will be playing DEVON PENBERTHY: a female prison inmate who grew up in a working class family from the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and is serving time for transporting weapons across state lines,” a press release for Rousey’s role reveals. “She is a tough, athletic woman who knows how to fight and handle a weapon.”
Rousey’s experience up to this point has generally been in movies like ‘Fast And Furious 6’, ‘The Expendables 3’ and ‘Entourage’, but this will be her first significant role on TV.
The UFC superstar proved that she’s still a major draw among fans in her comeback title fight against Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 in December, with the event being watched by over a million people on pay-per-view.
That being said, the fact that she was completely dominated and finished with strikes for the second fight in a row may well have dented her star power, and there’s been a drastic decline in the level of interest she’s been getting from Hollywood since her undefeated run came to an end.
As for her fighting future, Dana White recently indicated that ‘Rowdy’ has likely fought for the last time, though she has yet to confirm that her intention is to retire.
