UFC 211 has landed yet another big fight with the news that Frankie Edgar Vs Yair Rodriguez has been added to the line-up for the event in Dallas, Texas on May 13th.
Former lightweight champion Edgar had a five-fight winning streak snapped in July of last year when he lost against Jose Aldo for the second time in his career in an interim featherweight title bout at UFC 200.
However, the 35-year-old has quickly regained his footing by picking up a decision win over Jeremy Stephens at UFC 205 in November and as such holds down the No.2 spot on the divisional rankings heading into this fight.
Meanwhile, Rodriguez is one of the most exciting young stars currently rising up the ranks in the UFC, with the former TUF: Latin America star having compiled a six fight winning streak in the Octagon to date, taking his overall career record to 10-1.
The 24-year-old Mexican claimed his biggest win to date so far last time out against BJ Penn, dominating him in the first round, before TKO’ing him early in the second with a head kick followed by punches.
With this latest fight booking it’s evident that the UFC is pulling out all the stops to make UFC 211 a must-see event, with the deepest card we’ve seen so far this year.
Headlining the show will be a heavyweight title fight between Stipe Miocic and Junior dos Santos, while strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzeczyk fights Jessica Andrade in the co-main event.
Edgar Vs Rodriguez will appear beneath those two fights, alongside a multitude of other meaningful bouts, including Demian Maia Vs Jorge Masvidal, Eddie Alvarez Vs Dustin Poirier, Henry Cejudo Vs Sergio Pettis and David Branch Vs Krzysztof Jotko.
