Alistair Overeem has big plans if he is able to emerge victorious in his trilogy fight with Fabricio Werdum on Saturday night at UFC 213.

“After I get my hand raised, I’m going to grab that mic, and I’m going to challenge Stipe Miocic for the heavyweight championship belt,” Overeem boldly predicted in an interview with MMAjunkie.

“To me, the only thing that makes sense is fighting Stipe after this fight.”

The No.3 ranked heavyweight already faced Miocic for the belt in September of last year, losing by KO, but he’s since bounced back with a knockout victory over Mark Hunt in March, so he is certainly in the title hunt once again.

However, getting past Werdum first is far from an easy task. The Dutchman has faced his Brazilian rival twice in the past, losing by Kimura back in the days of PRIDE in 2006, but he did earn a decision win over him in Strikeforce five years later.

Like Overeem, Werdum was also defeated by Miocic in 2016 after being KO’d in the opening round, losing his title in the process, but a unanimous decision victory over Travis Browne indicated that he’s not given up on the possibility of fighting his way back to the belt either.
