Former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos made a big statement tonight at UFC 215 with a first round arm triangle submission victory over Neil Magny at UFC 215.
Round One:
Magny with the lengthy jab to start. Low leg kick from RDA knocks Magny off his feet. That’s big for Dos Anjos and he moves into half guard in the opening minute of the round.
Magny having to work hard to keep the former lightweight champion in his half-guard. RDA drops down some heavy ground and pound. Dos Anjos cleverly moves to side control and soon after slickly moves to full mount.
Magny in real trouble here in the opening round with two minutes to go. RDA moves effortlessly into an arm triangle choke and it’s immediately tight.
Magny hangs in there for as long as he can and then is left with no option but to tap out with 3.43mins on the clock, handing RDA a huge win that marks him out as a serious player in the welterweight division.
