Former featherweight champion Jose Aldo’s next fight will be against Jeremy Stephens at UFC on FOX 30 in Calgary, Canada on July 28th.
Aldo is looking to regroup after suffering back-to-back losses to current champion Max Holloway in 2017, both of which came by way of TKO in the third round.
That was a major blow for Aldo, who had almost fought his way back to the 145lb summit by defeating Frankie Edgar to win the interim title in 2016.
Now Aldo will fight against Stephens, who is currently enjoying a career resurgence that has seen him win his last three fights in impressive fashion.
It started with a ‘Fight Of The Night’ victory over Gilbert Melendez at UFC 215 in September of last year and then escalated further with a TKO finish against Doo Ho Choi, followed by a knockout stoppage of Josh Emmett back in February to leave him placed No.4 in the division, two places behind Aldo.
Aldo Vs Stephens is currently earmarked to take the co-main event spot on the UFC On FOX 30 card, with the latest rumor being that a women’s flyweight title fight between newly crowned champion Nicco Montana and Valentina Shevchenko may be in the works to headline the show – though at this stage it’s not been confirmed.
