A light-heavyweight fight between Volkan Oezdemir and Dominick Reyes has reportedly been targeted for UFC on ESPN+ 5 on March 16th in London, England.
Oezdemir made an immediate impression when he first joined the UFC in 2017, winning three fights in a row against tough opponents like Ovince Saint Preux, Misha Circunov and Jimi Manuwa, earning him a title shot against Daniel Cormier early last year.
However, he’d suffer a TKO loss at the hands of DC and has since gone on to be submitted by Anthony Smith as well.
Nevertheless, the 15-3 fighter still remains the 5th ranked light-heavyweight contender on the roster, so a win over Reyes in the UK would quickly get him back on track.
Reyes has also made a notable rise up the 205lb ranks too, having put together a four-fight winning streak in the Octagon so far.
Along the way he’s defeated Joachim Christensen, Jeremy Kimball, Jared Cannonier and most recently Ovince Saint Preux and is currently ranked No.9 in the division.
Oezdemir Vs Reyes is currently the most high-profile fight booked for the UFC On ESPN+ 5 event to date, though as things stand it’s unclear if that means that it will end up serving as the main event of the evening.
