A major middleweight fight between Yoel Romero and Paulo Costa is expected to headline UFC On ESPN 3 on April 27th in Miami.
The two stars had originally been scheduled to fight back at UFC 230 in November, but the bout fell through after Romero suffered an injury, but the promotion have decided that the match-up was worth continuing to pursue.
Known as ‘The Soldier Of God,’ Romero is coming off an unsuccessful middleweight title bid against Robert Whittaker, losing out by split decision back in June.
Romero had been ruled out of claiming the title even if he’d won that night due to missing weight, and the same was the case in his previous fight – a KO victory over Luke Rockhold, which had been for the interim 185lb title.
As for Costa, like Romero he is an impressive physical specimen and the Brazilian currently holds a perfect 12-0 record that includes four wins in the UFC to date.
All four of those victories came by TKO, competing against a steadily increasing level of competition that’s included Johny Hendricks and most recently Uriah Hall.
Romero Vs Costa headlines a UFC On ESPN 3 card that so far does not have any other bouts attached to it.
