Since Urijah Faber’s 46 second KO comeback from retirement against Ricky Simon on Saturday night there’s been a lot of talk that ‘The California Kid’ could now be a potential title contender for Henry Cejudo, but that’s something the current No.2 ranked bantamweight Aljamain Sterling is eager to shut down.
“I usually don’t do this but when I do, it’s to stop the bullsh*t!” Sterling wrote on Facebook.
“Back to business! Your title challenger is here! Faber, great finish, but you need to at least beat someone in the Top 10 [🤨] I’ll handle CeDooDoo, aka Triple Chump from here! [💯]”
it was Faber himself who had started the talk after his stunning victory, but it does rather rely on his star power as opposed to his results since he has only fought once in the past two-and-a-half years and Simon was ranked at No.11 heading into the fight.
Meanwhile, Sterling has won six of last seven fights and is currently on a four-fight winning streak that’s seen him defeat Brett Johns, Cody Stamann, Jimmie Rivera and most recently Pedro Munhoz.
Nevertheless, Faber has had a knack of working his way into title fights in the past, having fought three times for the bantamweight belt during his time in the UFC to date in addition to once for the interim title, though he came up short on all four occasions.
