Nate Diaz Appears To Have Given Up On Jorge Masvidal Rematch

Despite clearly coming off second best against Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244 last weekend, Nate Diaz was adamant post-fight that he wanted an immediate rematch due to the fight being being ended due to a cut above his eye, but less than a week later he’s already changed his tune.

“F*ck a rematch this shit was over before it started,” Diaz wrote on social media. “I’m goin on out on tour Peace out fight game.”

Diaz had voiced concerns at the post-fight press conference that the UFC wouldn’t give him the chance to have a second fight with Masvidal, despite ‘Gamebred’ having agreed in principal to the idea.

His suspicions were quickly proven to be correct as in his own post-fight interviews Dana White indicated that he wasn’t particularly interested in the idea of running the fight back at this stage, instead suggesting that there were other big match-ups awaiting Jorge Masvidal now after this win.

Still, Diaz hinting that he’s going to bow out of the fight game may just be a negotiating tactic, although given that he’s only just come back after a three year layoff and his brother Nick Diaz has been sitting out for over five years, it may not just be an idle threat.
