Former welterweight champion Tyron Woodley has declared that he was less than impressed by Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington’s performances at the end-of-year UFC 245 pay-per-view event in Las Vegas.
“Kamaru won the fight, broke Colby’s jaw,” Woodley stated on ‘The Hollywood Beatdown’ show. “Colby I thought was winning the fight by a little small margin. Wasn’t impressed, my man. I was really disgusted. I want to throw up, the fact that I lost to Usman.”
Woodley was critical of the two men’s punching power and defensive tactics, while suggesting that if he’d been in the Octagon that night then he’d have put someone to sleep.
“If I would have punched Colby, he may be on life support right now,” Woodley said. “Like when I’m looking at how many punches those guys took, I was impressed with their durability. I was impressed by the fact that they kept doing it over and over again.
“But as far as IQ, moving your (expletive) head maybe to the side so the punch misses your head, I didn’t see a lot of that. I was surprised I didn’t see a lot of wrestling, I thought I was going to see a lot, a lot of wrestling.”
In all fairness though, a number of Woodley’s own title defenses weren’t exactly thriller’s either, and having been dominated by Usman on the mat in his last fight, he’ll have to get back to winning ways again before he will be under consideration to get back into title contention again.
As yet there’s no word on who Woodley’s next opponent will be though.
