Welterweight stars Colby Covington and Tyron Woodley are talking up the chance that they could fight at UFC 249 on April 18th, despite continued uncertainty as to whether the promotion will really be able to host the event in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
“The offer still stands @ufc,” Covington wrote on social media. “I’ll go full Teddy Roosevelt & beat the breaks off @TWooodley live from The @whitehouse lawn! Save sports and make it free on @ESPN for the people! Im in such a giving mood I’ll even arrange a tour of the oval office for Tyrone, since Obama never did. #KAG2020.”
Meanwhile, Woodley also suggested that he’s down to fight Covington on that card, although he was also throwing in a curveball by suggesting Tony Ferguson as a potential opponent too.
“@ufc Me vs Qweefington April 18th unless Tony wanna roll back up to his Ultimate Fighter weight for the bag. WW bout won’t take no cheese out his LW macaroni.”
Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if when push comes to shove both fighters are really willing to make this fight happen with only a little over two weeks to go until fight night and there still not even being a destination set or confirmation that the event will go ahead.
