In a highly competitive rematch tonight at UFC On ESPN+ 31, Bobby Green and Lando Vannata traded blow-for-blow at times, but overall it was Green who was edging the action and secured several knockdowns on his way to a unanimous decision victory.
Round One:
Front kick to the body from Green. Jab for Green. Hook lands for Vannata, but then Green clocks him too on the counter.
Head kick attempt from Vannata blocked. Right hand exchanged by both men. Green working leg kicks. Body punch from Vannata.
Right hook for Vannata, but Green gets hit flush in the face too afterwards. Both men trading blow-for-blow here.
Kick from Green that’s caught by Vannata, who tries to take him down of it, but then aborts on the attempt.
Hook from Vannata as Green comes into range. Nice jab from Vannata. Reaching jab from Green. Now he targets the body. Back upstairs with a punch as he moves off.
Punch to the chin from Green as he pumps out the jab. Big right hand from Green sends Vannata to the mat. Vannata back up, but Green has his leg and works for another takedown.
Vannata able to keep upright and transitions to Green’s back and then retreats to the center of the Octagon.
Short punch from Vannata after ducking a punch. Both men land at almost the same time. Vannata connnects again. Nice right hand from Vannata. Green overreaches on a punch and Vannata lands a two-piece combo. Both men still looking to exchange as the round ends.
Round Two:
Leg kick for Green. Vannata into the clinch, but only briefly. Leg kick for Vannata has a good impact. he tries a head kick, but it doesn’t land correctly and he stumbles off-balance afterwards.
Stepping left hand from Green and then into the clinch against the cage. Vannata circles out nicely. Leg kick for Green. Another lands. A third time it connects. Right hand for Green.
Good body punch from Vannata. Jab for Green. Push kick to the body from Green. Vannata with a head kick that partially got through. He looks to follow up on it, but Green takes him down. Vannata trying for a guillotine choke, but Green is able to adjust and escape from that while staying on top.
Vannata kicks off Green and stands. Jab for Green. Now a leg kick. He just misses with a flurry. Outside leg kick from Vannata.
Oblique kick for Green. Glancing right and left hand from Vannata. Body punch from Green, but then Vannata swivels around to his back and gets a takedown. Green stands and lands a nice back elbow before they separate.
Outside leg kicks from Green and then a nice punch to the head. Now a push kick. Spinning head kick from Vannata misses.
Vannata catches a kick and throws a strike of his own as the round comes to a close.
Round Three:
Short flurry of punches from Green. Vannata lands a punch that staggers Green backwards against the cage.
Hard knees to the body from Green from the clinch. Big elbow from Green floors Vannata.
Green gets on top and starts landing some ground and pound. He starts working short elbows. Green able to transition to full mount and then is taking his back looking for the choke, but Vannata scrambles nicely and gets back upright.
Nice uppercut from Green. Hard right hand from Vannata, but Green lands too. Jab from him. Swing and a miss from Vannata and Green ducks in and gets a takedown off it.
Elbow lands for Green. Vannata gets to his knees and looking to stand. Green trying to keep him down, but can’t do so.
90 seconds to go. Leg kick for Green and then a punch to the body. Jab for Green, but a big counter punch lands in response from Vannata.
Hard body punch from Vannata as he steps into range. Head kick attempt just glances Green’s guard.
Nice one-two for Green. Again he connects. Right scores for Vannata. Spinning back kick to the body from Vannata, but Green takes it and is bundling him to the mat as the round ends.
