Tony Ferguson Calls For UFC To Make Dustin Poirier Fight Happen

Dustin Poirier recently withdrew from talks regarding a major fight with Tony Ferguson at UFC 254 after failing to come to terms on the financial aspect of the deal, but it seems that ‘El Cucuy’ hasn’t given up hope that it could still happen.

“Here’s Lookin’ At You Kid,” Ferguson wrote on Twitter. “Pay the man @danawhite @ufc Love ya’ll but let’s give the Hardcore & Casual fans what they deserve, a good fight Sir ⚔️ -CSO- @DustinPoirier #ufc254.”

It certainly is a fight that fans would be eager to see between two of the lightweight division’s very best, and ‘The Diamond’ has since responded to Ferguson’s plea in a positive manner, that suggests he too would still like to see the fight come to fruition.

“Tony’s the type of guy who would manage his opponent and get him a new contract for the fight to happen,” Poirier responded.

However, as things stand Dana White appears to have moved on from thinking about this match-up and is instead looking at alternative options to keep Ferguson on the UFC 254 line-up on October 25th at Fight Island, Abu Dhabi.

Ferguson vs. Poirier would have been perfect to serve as the lead-in to the main event lightweight title fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje though, so fingers crossed he changes his mind.
