Roxanne Modafferi’s next fight will be against Taila Santos at UFC Fight Night 191 on May 8th.
The 38-year-old Modafferi’s last fight against Viviane Araujo back in January ended in a unanimous decision loss, which continues ‘The Happy Warrior’s’ uncanny knack for alternating between wins and losses during her latest UFC run.
Since battling back to the promotion via the TUF 26 series in 2017, Modafferi has gone 4-5, picking up notable wins over the likes of Andrea Lee, Maycee Barber, Antonina Shevchenko and Barb Honchak along the way, while also coming unstuck against others such as Nicco Montao, Sijara Eubanks, Jennifer Maia and Lauren Murphy.
Now the No.9 ranked flyweight contender will go up against the No.14 placed Santos, who is coming off back-to-back decision wins over Molly McCann and Gillian Robertson in 2020.
Before that the 27-year-old Santos had suffered a split decision loss in her UFC debut against Mara Romero Borella, but nonetheless she still holds an overal l7-1 career record.
Modafferi vs. Santos joins a still-in-development UFC Fight Night 191 card that is also expected to feature Holly Holm’s next fight against Julianna Pena, while at heavyweight Maurice Green goes up against Marcos Rogerio de Lima. At this stage no headliner has been confirmed for the event.
