Jose Aldo’s Reign Will End At UFC 179

Jose Aldo Junior // UPPER Brazil – The Official 'Nova Uniao' MMA ...

1.) He seems to be more concerned with how much money he makes:

Aldo has been in the news a lot complaining about how much he makes from the UFC. He hasn’t let up much, either; as it’s a trend he continued this week leading up to UFC 179.

While his skillset and track record and track record certainly speak for themselves and rank Aldo as one of the best fighters in MMA history, that doesn’t mean that he’s all that popular in terms of overall UFC profitability.

The promotion is a business after all, and Aldo, along with his Nova Uniao teammate and former bantamweight champion Renan Barao, simply aren’t needle movers when it comes to pay-per-view (PPV) sales.

Part of that could be Aldo’s unwillingness to learn English, an avenue that could potentially open up a whole new market of fans in America. That’s just “playing the game” as Dana White would say.

If Aldo wants to make more money, he could desperately use a PR makeover. Take it from the man whom he may be fighting next, Conor McGregor. He should hype his fights to build his fanbase rather than just show up and complain.
