After a relentless run of major MMA events over the past couple of months there’s finally a two week respite mid-way through the month of August, but despite that there’s still five key events you should mark down on your calendar, so let’s get right to it.

Saturday, August 1st: UFC 190 – Rousey Vs Correia
Where: Rio De Janeiro, Brazil
As you’re probably well aware by now, August’s action kicks off this very evening in Brazil as Ronda Rousey looks to defend her UFC bantamweight title for a sixth time against Bethe Correia.
There’s an extended seven fight main card for this one to accomodate TUF Brazil 4 finals, but fans are likely to be more focused on the Nogueira brothers fights with Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua and Stefan Struve respectively while Claudia Gadelha Vs Jessica Aguilar is a great way to kick off the PPV portion of the card.

Saturday, August 1st: WSOF 22 – Palhares Vs Shields
Where: Las Vegas, USA
Also taking place tonight is the latest World Series Of Fighting event which plays host to an intriguing welterweight title fight between current champion Rousimar Palhares and Jake Shields.
In the co-main event bantamweight champion Marlon Moraes gets set for his latest title defense against Sheymon Da Silva Moraes, while Mike Kyle fights Clifford Starks.

Saturday, August 8th: UFC Fight Night 73 – Teixeira Vs St. Preux
Where: Nashville, USA
A battle of top-six ranked light-heavyweight contenders headlines UFC Fight Night 73 next weekend as current No.6 Glover Teixeira faces the fourth placed Ovince St. Preux.
There’s also lightweight action in the co-main event here as Michael Johnson looks to press closer to title contention with a win over Beneil Dariush who’s hoping to make it into the division’s top 10, while Sara McMann Vs Amanda Nunes is also among the fights on the main card.

Sunday, August 23rd: UFC Fight Night 74 – Holloway Vs Oliveira
Where: Saskatoon, Canada
After a two week break the UFC returns for UFC Fight Night 74 which features what’s almost guaranteed to be an exciting featherweight main event between two of the most consistently entertaining fighers around, Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira.
Another fun fighter to watch, Erick Silva appears in the co-main event where he’ll be facing Rick Story and there’s also Josh Burkman Vs Patrick Cote to look out for on the main card as well.

Friday, August 28th: Bellator 141 – Guillard Vs Girtz
Where: California, USA
Bellator round off the month with their 141st event as ex-UFC fighter Melvin Guillard looks to put an unsettled period behind him in his promotional debut against Brandon Girtz.
Patricky Friere is on co-main event duties here alongside Saad Awad and also keep an eye out for Justin Wren’s Bellator debut against Josh Burns and the return of former Strikeforce champion Marloes Coenen who fights Arlene Blencowe.
