So the future is bright and full of possibilities for the UFC’s new sponsorship plan, and big changes will be on the way next summer.
The agreement will almost certainly see a massive drop in profits for MMA clothing companies that create walkout shirts for fighters. These companies will have to find a new way to get their name featured on UFC uniforms; it’s unknown if they will still want to or not.
With MMA as many of the companies’ primary market, however, they will probably have no choice but to stay and adapt to the new rules.
Lesser known fighters stand to benefit most from the announcement, and champions could truly rise to the next level of compensation and exposure.
The UFC has promised to redistribute the income to the fighters here, and that sounds like an excellent plan on paper. It’d be naïve to think that there won’t be some bumps in the road along the way, but overall the deal could usher in a new era of fighter sponsorship and prosperity.
What are your thoughts on the deal and its immediate impacts upon the UFC?
