What’s Next For UFC 146’s Main Card Winners?

Following this evening’s UFC 146 event in Las Vegas we look ahead to what may be next for the show’s big winners.

Junior Dos Santos:

I’d really like to see a rematch between Dos Santos and Cain Velasquez.

Some may argue that it’s too soon given that they only fought in November last year, but that fight was pretty much over before it started and you could argue that with both men being injured going into that bout that we didn’t really get a chance to see what a true fight between them would be like.

Velasquez looked impressive tonight and let’s be honest, there aren’t a whole host of real challenges left for Dos Santos until Alistair Overeem’s suspension is up at the end of the year and Daniel Cormier crosses over from Strikeforce.

Cain Velasquez:

See above.

Roy Nelson:

Big win for Nelson and it would be fun to see him going up against another similarly heavy-handed, iron-jawed opponent in Mark Hunt next time out.

Stefan Struve:

Struve is on a three fight winning streak and is well established in the division now despite still being relatively young and so he needs to be put up against a notable opponent next time out.

The winner of the Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira Vs Chieck Kongo at UFC 149 in July would be a good test for him.

Stipe Miocic:

Like Struve, Mioicic is also a young up and coming heavyweight talent on a three fight unbeaten run, but he’s not yet quite as well known as his Dutch counterpart.

To help raise his profile he could also use a ‘name’ opponent and Gabriel Gonzaga fits the bill.
