Donald Cerrone’s Bicep Ripped Off The Bone While Riding Bull

Retired UFC star Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone has suffered a setback in his bid to live up to his nickname by riding Dana White’s bull Twisted Steel’ at the PBR World Finals next month after tearing his bicep during a training session.

“As y’all know I was set to ride Dana White’s ‘Twisted Steel’ at the PBR World Finals on May 18,” Cerrone wrote on Instagram. “I was just rushed into surgery with 100-percent biceps tear off the bone! Guess you mess with the bull you sometimes get the horns. This is not the end. I will rehab and get back after it.”

Cerrone later followed up with a video in the aftermath of the injury in which he explains how it happened, while vowing that he’d get back to bull-riding once he’s healed up.

“Well if y’all want to see what happened to the one arm man, this is it. Now if you’re thinkin this is it, and ol’ cowboy is down and out— no sir. @danawhite hooked me up with one of the best surgeons for a full bicep tear and give it six-eight weeks and with help from @transcendHrt and I’ll be back at it,” Cerrone wrote.

Meanwhile Dana White has admitted he though it was a bad idea for the 41-year-old Cerrone to attempt to ride his bull in the first place.

“I thought this was a bad idea for Cowboy from the start,” White told PBR. “Twisted Steel is the nastiest bull in the PBR. He’s bucked 90% of his riders. Let’s leave it to the pros at the PBR World Finals in Arlington.”

Cerrone, who has lived in his own ranch in New Mexico for many years is no stranger to bull-riding, having dabbled in the sport in his late teens before turning his attention to a career in MMA.

The former UFC fan favorite has tried his hands at many extreme sports over the years and has the injuries to prove it, having suffered serious injuries and life-threatening situations doing everything from quad-biking to rock climbing and cave diving.
