The UFC kicks of their fight calender for 2013 with a trip to Brazil for ‘UFC On FX 7’ this weekend.

Headlining the show is a major middleweight clash between Vitor Belfort and Michael Bisping with the latter being all-but guaranteed a title shot against Anderson Silva if he emerges victorious.

The co-main event is a somewhat curious choice with TUF: Brazil semi-finalist Daniel Sarafian making his debut against another former TUF fighter CB Dollaway.

A more obvious co-main would perhaps have been the heavyweight clash between Gabriel Gonzaga and Ben Rothwell with both men having got a win under their belts in their last Octagon outings to get their respective careers back on track.

Finally, the four fight main card is rounded off by a lightweight tilt as Thiago Tavares squares off against Khabib Nurmagomedov who’s already picked up notable wins over Gleison Tibau and Kamal Shalorus in the UFC last year.

Check out the full fight card below.

Main Card:

Vitor Belfort vs. Michael Bisping

  1. Wow. Pretty sad card….other than the bisping/belfort. I mean, CB Dollaway? He was barely hanging on to his job at the UFC a few months ago…now he is in the co-main event?!
I think I might just skip to the main event on this one.
They could have put the Rounda Rousey garbage on this card just to get it out of the way.

  2. Wait, hold on a minute…you mean to say you don’t like Ronda Rousey??!!

I’m shocked by this breaking news.

Seriously though, it’s definitely a bit of a limp card to start the year off. Seems like a bit of a cash-in on the current popularity of MMA in Brazil. This is the kind of event I’d like to see them scrap and use the main event to strengthen one of their other upcoming cards.
