24 hours after re-signing with the UFC, former heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski has his first fight booked against Brendan Schaub at UFC 174 on June 14th.
The fight will mark Arlovski’s first Octagon encounter in six years, with his last one being a TKO victory over Jake O’Brien at UFC 82 back in 2006.
Since leaving the UFC Arlovski has compiled an 8-5 (+1nc) record and has won his last two fights, earning a decision victory over Mike Kyle and a TKO stoppage against Andreas Kraniotakes.
Brendan Schaub’s MMA career hadn’t even started by the time Arlovski was leaving the UFC, but since 2008 he’s pieced together a 10-3 record and also has wins in his last two fights against Lavar Johnson and most recently Matt Mitrione back in September of last year.
The fight will likely feature on the main card of the Vancouver show and will help bolster a line-up that’s currently fronted by a flyweight title encounter between Demetrious Johnson and Ali Bagautinov, with Rory MacDonald Vs Tyron Woodley serving as the co-main event and Ryan Bader Vs Rafael ‘Feijao’ also on the pay-per-view portion of the card.
